(Kent, WA) – Governor Inslee signed SB 6039 into law on March 28, 2024. The bill was sponsored by Senator Lovelett (40th District) and supported by Whatcom PUD, local Legislators from both Houses, and local Tribes. This bill encourages development of Geothermal power generation in Washington State, and in particular Whatcom County. The PUD was represented by General Manager Chris Heimgartner.
