Public Utility District No. 1 of Whatcom County is a nonprofit, community-owned and governed utility that provides water and electricity for mainly industrial services in the Cherry Point and Grandview Industrial Park Areas.

The PUD operates two water systems which produce industrial grade and potable (drinking) water, and irrigation and fire protection water. One system is located on the Nooksack River near Ferndale, Washington.  The PUD No. 1 produces about 5.4 billion gallons per year.  The potable water and fire protection system source is groundwater (well).

The PUD No. 1 supplies 1 industrial customer with electricity and owns three substations and transmission lines.
