The PUD operates two water systems which produce industrial grade and irrigation water. These intake systems are located on the Nooksack River near Ferndale, Washington. A second system, north of Ferndale, produces potable (drinking) water and fire protection water for the Grandview Light Industrial Area. Water for this system is withdrawn from wells and includes a tie-in to a PUD industrial water line. Whatcom PUD produces about 5.4 billion gallons per year.
We supply one industrial customer with electricity and owns three substations and transmission lines.
