Public Utility District No. 1 of Whatcom County is a nonprofit, community-owned and governed utility that provides water and electricity for mainly industrial services in the Cherry Point and Grandview Industrial Areas.   Click here to view the PUD service area map.

The PUD operates two water systems which produce industrial grade and potable (drinking) water, and irrigation and fire protection water. Both systems are located on the Nooksack River near Ferndale, Washington.  The PUD No. 1 produces about 5.4 billion gallons per year.

The PUD No. 1 supplies 3 industrial customers with electricity and owns two substations and transmission lines.
