Definition

Surface – ground water storage site for community use within a specific geographic area for legally available water for agriculture’s current use.

Benefits Fish Habitat:
  • Creation of a new wetland area increases habitat.

  • Provides reliable, legal source of water. Also is beneficial to some flood management.

Water Quality:
  • Benefit to water quality issues through dilution.

  • Instream flow is augmented during critical periods and there is a shift in timing of the peak demand away from surface water use.
