| | Definition |
Water reclamation is a process where wastewater from one use is adequately and reliably treated so that it is suitable for another use. Water reuse can be either direct or indirect. Direct water reuse involves treating wastewater and piping the effluent directly into some type of water system without intervening travel dilution in natural surface or ground water bodies. Indirect water reuse involves an intermediate step between the generation of reclaimed water and reuse. The intermediate step commonly includes discharge, retention, and mixing with another water supply prior to reuse. |
