Definition

The conversion of residential land to higher density urban uses would involve replacing existing residential properties to commercial or industrial properties.

Benefits Fish Habitat:
  • The conversion of residential land to higher density urban use is generally not a good thing for fish habitat.

Water Quantity:
  • If high density and high water demanding infrastructure were built to replace less dense residential housing, less water will be available for new or expanded uses of water for instream and/or out-of-stream purposes.

Water Quality:
  • The conversion of residential land to higher density urban use is generally not a good thing for water quality.

Instream Flows:
  • The conversion of residential land to higher density use is generally not a good thing for instream flow.
