Option Land Use: Agricultural to Industrial Conversion

Definition

The conversion of agricultural land to industrial uses would involve construction of an industrial facility on lands formerly used for food production.

Location WRIA1

Benefits Fish Habitat:
  • Depending on the industry and associated mitigation and storm water management activities, replacing agricultural lands with industrial land use could provide opportunity for fish habitat protection and enhancement through provision of temperature moderating shade, large woody debris recruitment potential, improved habitat for insects and other food sources, and elimination of a potential pollutant source.

Water Quantity:
  • Depending on the industrial activity and associated water demand, if industrial land uses replace agricultural lands, either more or less water could be provided for new or expanded uses of water for instream and/or out-of-stream purposes.

Water Quality:
  • Depending on the industry and associated mitigation and storm water management activities, replacing agricultural lands with industrial land use could provide opportunity for water quality protection and enhancement through temperature moderation, sediment reduction, and reduced pollutant loading.

Instream Flows:
  • Depending on the industry and associated mitigation, replacing agricultural lands with industrial land use could provide opportunity for instream flow protection and enhancement.
