Public Utility District No. 1 of Whatcom County is pleased to announce the promotions of two staff members.
Brian Walters has been promoted to Assistant General Manager and Duane Holden to Director of Utility Operations, effective April 1, 2017. Walters has over 15 years of experience with the PUD, most recently serving as Director of Utility Operations/Assistant General Manager by overseeing utility operations and staff. Walters will continue to oversee District operations and assume a greater role in contracts administration and policy development.
Duane Holden will fill the position of Director of Utility Operations. Holden has been with the District over eight years in the capacity of Manager of Construction and Facilities and as Project Manager. In his new role, Holden will manage the IT, Electric Operations and Water Operations staff.
“The PUD is a unique public operating agency and these type of management positions must have in-depth understanding of the District’s operations affecting day-to-day management of the water and electric utilities,” said Stephan Jilk, PUD General Manager. “It is a pleasure to recognize both Brian and Duane’s longevity and noteworthy ability and capacity to fill these positions.”
Public Utility District No. 1 of Whatcom County located in Ferndale is a countywide, independent, special-purpose government. The PUD provides electric and water utility services for industries located in western Whatcom County. The PUD also works cooperatively with Whatcom County government, all county cities and tribes and other stakeholders on issues related to water supply.
